Mindfulness in the Age of Technology
Could Technology Be Ruining Your Ability to Stay Mindful?
Mindfulness is an all-too-important topic these days and it seems to come up everywhere. You may be bombarded with “mindfulness hacks” or “a day in the life of a mindful person” on social media. But, mindfulness can be stunted through the constant use of social media platforms. Studies find that the more a person uses social media the less mindful they are.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to be present in the moment. It means you are fully focusing your attention on what is happening around you. It is an awareness of where you are and what you are doing. It is a tool we, as humans, are born with but many of us lose touch with as we make our way through the world. No need to fret though, because it can always be accessed.
Actively practicing mindfulness can help you flex your mindful muscle. Consistently using mindfulness as a tool can reduce stress, enhance your ability to connect with others, and increase performance during activities that require sustained attention.
